Finally... Germany!

I don't know how long my plane ride from Vancouver to Frankfurt was... maybe 9 or maybe 11 hours?
I slept a little, maybe... 3 hours, but I spent most of my time reading, messing around on my iPad, and I even watched a movie... In Time I think it was called, with Justin Timberlake.
It was very nice, I had the very front seat on the plane, lots of leg room and I got a bag with socks, a pillow, ear plugs, eye mask, etc.

This was an hour or maybe more into the flight. I can't quite remember.
I took this photo as soon as I figured out how to TV worked.. or where the TV was.
I thought to myself when I sat down,
"What a rip off! First class and no TV's!!"
Turns out, after creeping other passengers,
the TV came out of my armrest.

Before I figured out the TV thing,
I was bored and took pictures of random things,
for example: my ticket.

I was so excited to be served food, I was hungry!
But an odd dinner I thought....

Turns out it was the appetizer and dessert.
I was given the choice of pasta, chicken, or... something else for dinner.
I took pasta.
Note: a bite of the cake gone..
I didn't know it was cake until I was asked about my main course.

My next dessert!

This was the next morning, or two hours before landing,
and right before this I got a plate of crackers
since I was hungry and desperately asked the flight attendant for some food.

At one point, not long before landing,
I thought it would be nice to brush my teeth,
than I was given a breath mint!

One of the last pictures taken while on the plane!

When I finally landed, I was scared that my luggage was lost,
but it came... at the very end of what seemed to be the entire plane.
Nora was waiting to pick me up with her friend Elise (Pronounced like "Alice in Wonderland")
Poor girls, they had to listen to be blabber on and on since I had hardly spoken for 12 hours.

We went to a park right from the airport where thier school had a soccer tournament.
Nora got a group together and we played Ultimate Frisbee.
It was odd, there were teachers there but also students drinking beer and smoking.
Something new for the Canadian.
That night we went to one of Nora's friends house where we watched Germany lose against Italy in soccer.
Well actually, Nora and I went home at half time since I was half asleep,
but I was woken up during the night when there were people making tons of noise after the game.

The next day I went with Nora to school for her last day and for her to get her report card.
We went into Frankfurt city center after and went into a market in one of the squares.
There we had Langos and Apfelwein .
Apfelwein is a German apple wine and Langos is a deep fried, delicious, Hungarian food.
I asked for something traditional, so Nora and I shared another dish at a different tent.
It is translated into "Green Sauce" and it was pretty delicious... it was a green sauce on potatoes.

This was the few from our table at the market.

It's an Opera house!
... I think.

Nora said this guy is Germany's William Shakespear.
And that thing on his head is a bird.

This picture was a wedding!
The crowd was throwing rice and Nora said weddings here were very common.

This was opposite of the wedding, in a very old square,
as you can see by the traditional buildings in the background.

There are so many windows since they faced the main square where the king made appearances,
and those lucky people had a view from the comfort of their homes.
To the left in this picture there were apartment buildings that were made from concrete
and Nora told me that is because they were rebuilt after the bombing from WW2.

One of the surprisingly not so many churches we went into.
This was in the same square as above.

Beautiful graffiti

Nora and me!

More graffiti that is more like art.

This photo and the following are outside of Frankfurt,
in the small town created by multiple villages fairly close together.
We got to see castle ruins...

gardens...

and shops,
this is actually an ice cream shop,
and this bowl is for, you guessed it, couples.

Looks like an average jar of Nutella.

Wrong! Fricking 5kgs.

These are signs that are all over Germany.
They are for bike trails, or bike routes,
and my next post will be about my week, following these signs!
